Hi,
I have managed to crack the lins on my 04 S60R. Its a Bi-Xenon unit, and Volvo initially informed me the entire unit had to be changed at a cool £600!!!! I have since discovered i can get the replacement lens for it for about £60 which is more resonable. My questions are these:
1. Is it a job i could tackle myself?
2. I know the bumper would have to come off to do this. Is that straight forward, and how exactly is it done?
3. Once the lamp is replaced will the alignment be affected, and if so is sorting that fairly straightforward?

Any help greatly appreciated, as the thought of paying nearly a grand to have a piece of glass replced is by anyone's standards crazy!

PS ASnyone know where i can get some headlamp protectors!! ;-)

Hmmm..
i have a similar issue with my head lamp, although not cracked the passenger side it cutting out, and coming on rather dim,
i have spoke to some garages and it seems the Gas discharge unit is at fault.. have you any info on these? have you had any issues similar to this,

i have been quoted a 240 + vat, + engineer time to fit, Due to the 25,000 volts it requires to fire the system..

can anyone help? i do have a volvo part number of 3067478, if this helps, can i get it chaper via this site?!

please help!!

kind regards,
Rich.

Hi there the bumper dose need to come off and it is straight forward to do , there are some plastic push clips when you open the bonnet, take them out Then the plastic body trim that is on the front bumper. ( half way up on each corner ). They just pull out , and there are two 15mm bolts. Then you need to go to the wheel archs. Where there is torx's screw undo that but not all the way
then just pull from each corner ( you will need to twist the bumper as you are doing it )
REMBER to take the head lamp wipers off ;-)
.
You can get the head lamp protectors.from partsforvolvosonline.
Not sure about the rest I will have a look on my car to see what is involed
follow the link on the bottom of my post. You can find me there if youneed any more help
