See a lot of STIs floating around the Hartford/I-84 area and they are your typical target market drivers...guys 20-30 waiting for someone to push em around (those boys will do much more than breakdown lane passing if you let em). Funny enough though, the only rice burners I see anymore are built for looks vs. anything that would suffice as "performance". Besides with what I can only describe as an exhaust in desparate need of a catalytic converter, I am more than willing to be in front of them so I don't have to turn up my music any.

lowering springs might qualify also.
And some spinners!!
This guy down the street from me has a newer Carrera S and says to me one day "you know I can beat you". I said yeah, I hope a 90 grand Porsche can beat a 40 grand Volvo, but wouldn't it be funny if you didn't. Apparently he did not, because he just turns and walks away. Those guys have no senes of humor. Well, that and when I told him I thought a Porsche would sound better than that

Lol, My lil Fart can car is much faster the my S60R, and it does have a wing from factory. It also has Full turboback exhaust, Intake, FMIC, IC Piping, and a Tune. It also has been lowered for track use about 1.25 inches. Oh and Im a 31 year old Anesthesiologist with a perfect driving record. Do not get me wrong. I love the R as well, it just doesnt get my blood boiling when I take it to the track though. I also have a XC90 V8 which my wife drives. The 90 might be my favorite car we have the V8 sounds is really nice.

Man I feel you on that. Ever since the 1st Fast and Furious movie came out, I have had my Honda Civic broken into at least 3 times and that was with a car alarm on it. So, I said "F" this!!! and sold it for $500 dollars, because I just wanted to get rid of it. Needless to say the aftermarket parts were getting entirely too expensive and for what???!!! Everything I was going to do to my old Civic, I already have stock on the "R" and even more. Now that I'm on the outside looking in, I am so glad that I got out the Rice Burner game when I did.

I think there are several reasons why people will take a $15K car (or less) such as a Honda Civic, or typical "ricer" car and then progressively tune it up to become a thoroughbred killer (i.e. Mercedes/AMG, BMW/M, S60R, Audi S, RS or R)
- Hiding their sports sedan / racer intentions from their insurance companies and their young age risks
- Financing progressive performance updates based on how much cash they can rake in and build into their "ordinary" base vehicle
- It's what all the kids are doing

Thoughts ?
