Had a go with a friend in his BMW 335.From a rolling start the first 25 yards he was pulling away slightly but once the turbos on my R were spinning I slowly pulled away.My car is standard apart from a K and N filter so it was a good kill.Friend was surprised and a little pissed off. When my R is remapped soon the gap will be bigger.

Looking To Buy A S60R

Hi everyone,

I'm currently considering to buy a 2004 S60R with 65k miles on the clock. If you could please give me some advise as to what I should be more carefully looking at, weak points etc.

Also, the seller claims that the car's been mod (not by him) and that it shows 350hp at the wheels. Other than putting it on a dyno, how can I find out if this is correct? What are the modifications that have to be done for a S60R to reach that output?

Any clarifications would be very helpful!

Slowing Down

first post here, i have a 2007 volvo s60r automatic, i bought the car a few months back and it has about 45k on it. When i got the car it had a problem with the awd where it would only put power to the front wheels, during that time i would run about a 6.2 at the fastest 0 to 60 time, i figured it was just the awd and once i got it fixed it would run the advertised 5.2 to 5.5 0 to 60, after the awd was fixed at the dealership, i took it out and i am now running a 7 flat, is there something wrong with my car? or is this just what happens after 45 thousand miles? anything i can do that doesnt involve to much money to get it at least back into the six range? thanks for any help!

Need Software For Guinea Pig Experiment

I have a experiment I want to try, everyone always complains that when they buy a software upgrade either from IPD, Evolve(Elevate), BSR, RICA they can only match it with one car. So what I am looking for is someone that would be willing to send me their modified software file and try to modify it so it will allow to upload it to any vin number you want. I also have a Volvo mechanic that wants to see if once the file is loaded if the vin can be changed thru their computers. If you have a software file you would be willing to send me please send me a pm or e-mail me at weidner_justin@yahoo.com. Not trying to rip anyone off just trying to see if we can even the playing field with the manufactures a little.

Love At First Sight.. And A Question

So I have 210K miles on my modded 2002 Jetta 1.8T and am facing my second turbo replacement and am starting to consider my options. I thought about A bmw 530, or a secondhand M3/5. I saw a couple used AMGs. Started thinking toward a g35x as I liked the AWD, thought about the Is300 for the 2jz (Supra) motor which has a lot of available mods. Anyway, headed to the local Infinity dealer to go check out a G35 coupe. I knew I liked em and even was reminded when I saw 4 or 5 of them in the 13 mile trip to the dealership. At 6'6" it was a bit of a squeeze, virtually ruling out a manual transmission. I Decided to bounce and head to lexus to look at the IS300.. way too small. Drove to Audi.. looked at the A4 and S4.. Basically another Jetta. Went back to Infinity and he sat me in the G37s.. nice car. $32k, used, is a bit of a stretch. A bit defeated, I got out of the G37 and thats when I saw her. WHO IS THAT SEXY BEAST?!? Beautiful face.. Great curves.. and an ass end that made me bite my lip. How could I have missed this one? AWD.. Turbo? The salesman's hard sale on the G37 faded in to the din of the background noise as I just stared.. for that moment it was just me and the s60R with Sport pkg. Since then, I have exhaused hours researching, reading forums, watching youtubes, reading reviews. I now want to find the perfect one.

The question I have is; for the 6 speed (MT), What are the differences between the 04, 05, 06, 07 Volvo S60R?

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to join the club

Bsr Ppc Stage I Feels Slower Than Stock???

Hey all,

I have the stage I BSR tune and have toggled between the tune and the original settings and have noticed that when in the "tuned" mode it feels sluggish, and on highway driving the car seems to "hiccup" occasionally like it loses boost for a fraction of a second. But when placed back on the ECU's original factory settings it seems quicker to respond, pulls harder, and doesn't hiccup. Anyone else experience a problem like this with the BSR tune? I also have an ELEVATE cat-back as well. Any suggestions on how to correct this expensive mods problem? Thanks!

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum so I apologize in advance because I am sure these questions have been answered. I have looked all over the net including here and swedespeed but can't seem to find the answers to my questions. I have an 04 R (as of 3 days ago) and have installed the BSR PPC stage 1 and the ELEVATE exhaust. I'm considering adding in the near future an FMIC and boost controller but am hearing some negative things such as FMIC's are bad unless your decently modified due to decreases in air inlet pressure. After the BSR and ELEVATE cat-back is the FMIC considered beneficial? One last thing, I can't find the specs (other than hp/torque numbers) for the BSR. Does it do anything besides raise boost levels? Forinstance extending the redline limit or eliminate the rev limiter? Thanks in advance.

Need Your Help

Hey Guys, new here and looking to get a Volvo S60. I wanted the R edition with that stock body kit that came on them. Not real fond of the ones without it. Apparently its hard to find the ones with the body kit though. So my question is, is there a kit you can buy to add to the regular S60 to make it look like the S60 R with the body kit? I want to get one within the week but really love the ones with body kits on em. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Just wanting to see what the s60r guys like myself think about the new 2011 S60. Performance specs look pretty good at 300hp/325lbs of torque. 1 draw back no manual option when released, it is available with the 4-c option for $750. Anyways I don't want to pre judge anything, just trying to see what everybody thinks?

Interested In Buying A S60R

I'm moving up north from the ATL and am looking for a fun awd car. I just got rid of my s2000, and in the process of selling my 06 M3 cabrio and my '95 Impala SS. I'm really interested in getting a S60R but might have a couple questions.

I tried to search for the questions prior but they didn't really show results (I tried). I found a '04 with 80k near me that seems in good condition aside from replacing two sensors. The only think that concerns me is replacement of the turbo. There seems to be no issues but turbos only last 80-120k. How much would it be to replace it?

Any other helpful new buyer hints would be great. I'm sure there are sticky threads around. Also I'm also considering the S4 as well as the WRX instead. Convince me I'm better with the S60R!

Buying A Used S60R

Hey guys this would be my first post on this forum.
I am in process of buying a used 2004 s60r with around 140,000 miles on it. The person I'm buying it from says that all maintenance has been completed and it runs flawlessly. Should I be concerned about anything? I've tried searching the internet for the service manual or to find out maintenance intervals, but have had no luck so far. Could anyone please tell me what I should be looking for while test driving it.
Thanks

Must Sell!! Pristine 2005 Volvo S60R 49.5K Miles; $17,900

This is a very rare combination 2005 Volvo S60R AWD
Low 49,500 mileage, 5 Speed Geartonic transmission, Non-smoker, Beautiful leather, power sunroof, premier sound system, adjustable suspension (COMFORT, SPORT, ADVANCED). All scheduled maintenance, Always garaged, Looks & runs great, Maintenance records available, New tires, No accidents, Nexen performance tires, power everything, Very clean interior, Well maintained, Will let go to the first qualified buyer! This is a very FAST and sporty sedan.

CAR GURU NOTES:
Externally, the S60R exhibits subtle differences from its more sedate siblings. There are the various Rs planted around the car - for example, on the spokes of the unique five-spoked R type rims, through which the exclusive R imprinted four-piston Brembo disc brakes flash. Or you might notice the quarter-inch lowering of the S60R compared to a regular S60. Or the unique front fascia's bumper, which allows more air to the twin-intercooled turbocharger and reduces lift by 25 percent. That turbocharger feeds a heavily modified version of Volvo's 208-hp, 2.5-liter turbocharged inline five. The modifications produce 300 hp at 5,500 rpm and a beautiful torque curve of 295 pound-feet from 1,950 to 5,250 rpm. Flowing through a new close-ratio six-speed manual (THIS CAR IS THE FIVE SPEED GEARTRONIC AUTOMATIC) transmission, the S60R does the 0-60 leap in 5.5 seconds. Volvo didn't stop with the engine. The company developed an electronic suspension system that couples to an all-wheel-drive layout - in Volvo speak, Four-C: Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept. A computer-controlled hydraulic-electronic dampening system allows the driver to select the level of suspension compliance. Three settings - COMFORT, SPORT, and ADVANCED - are accessible through a dash-mounted switch.

Volvo Rip-Off Strut Prices.

I have just phoned my Volvo dealer in Aberdeen Scotland for a quote for ONE OSF Strut for my S60 R 2003 MT and was quoted £450 + VAT taking the price to over £500.!!!!!

On checking the type of struts used and doing a lot of digging I have managed to locate a supplier who will sell me TWO for the grand total of £333 including VAT.A PAIR!!!!

For those of you needing a front strut you will need a Monroe C2501 or a C2502 depending on year, chassis number etc. These prices for the two types are virtually identical.
For rears the part numbers are C1501 or C1502.I believe these are the struts used by Volvo as OE.

Simply staggered that Volvo would try to STIFF their customers by around £330 for each strut. What a mark up.

Anyone else, especially in the UK,BEEN CHARGED THESE SORTS OF PRICES BY vOLVO?

Like I've said before my Dad doesn't want me in too fast of the car so i hope he doesnt say that about the S60R. Back to the car it has black alcantara/clothe interior with a carbon fiber look trim, and "mystic blue" exterior color. Car and driver tested the car and it achieved a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds and a 14.3 second 1/4 mile time, so the figures seem close, I just wanted to see if any of you have ever raced one or not and how was the outcome? thanks for replying ahead of time!!

All season tires - Dunlop SP Sport Signatures opinions?

It's coming to that time to put some new rubber on my 17" pegs. Currently I have the stock Pirelli PZero Rosso's. I'm looking to replace them with some All-Seasons and would like to know what is good for the R out there. In the near future, I'm hoping to get my hands on some BBS RG-R 17'' but they are not as wide as my current pegs. What do you guys think about that? Should I not go with wheels that are not as wide as the stock ones? And is everything goes well I will then put some performance summer tires on those BBS's.

I've been looking at some All-Seasons and was looking to get the Dunlop SP Sport Signatures. After reading some reviews on them, I'm not so sure. So and advice and/or input is greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Steve from New Jersey. I have recently purchased my dream car of all time! I have a 2006 S60 R 6 spd, Metallic Black/Atacama w/ 33k miles.

So far the car runs great! I had a BSR (if memory serves me right) intake put in, along with bushings for the stock strut and Heico door pins.

My plan is to eventually flash the ECU, install DP and exhaust. (Not specifically in that order)

As for aesthetics, I'm looking to have 35% tints all around, smoked tails red portion only (Anyone have this done? I'd like to see what it looks like before going ahead with it), Evolve tail trims, and if possible the OEM aero kit.

Comments and advice is greatly appreciated!

New Verified Member User Group

We have created a new Verified Member group. To become a Verified Member, you need to make a $4.99 donation from our Donation system using a valid credit card or Paypal account. The Verified Member payment will be refunded to you 30 days after!

Benefits of being a Verified Member?

Signals that you have validated your identity using a valid credit card

Allows you to post to the Marketplace (Buy/Sell/Trade) forum

Why is this being put in place?

As S60R.com grows and the markplace becomes one of the more popular areas to buy, sell, and trade merchandise, it has also attracted the attention of the occasional spammer, scammer or other less than desirable type. By providing a Verified Member status, we are offering an additional level of assurance for all parties involved.

Does Verified Member status guarantee a member is reliable?

No - there are no guarantees in life, of course. That said, it is a sign that a member has vetted their identity beyond simply providing a working email address.

Do other members have access to my personal information (real name, address, credit card info)

Absolutely not. The transactions are all done using the Paypal secure website, and S60R.com will never reveal your identity to another member - except under court order, of course!

What if I don't have a credit card or Paypal account?

Send me a private message and we will look into other methods of validating your identity - this may take a bit longer.

I'm already a donating benefactor, do I need to become a verified member?

Of course not - you've already validated your identity when you made your benefactor donation.

How do I become a Verified Member?

Video - MythBusters - Crash Force

Mythbusters crew decided to revisit an old myth that was drawing the ire of the show's fans for quite some time. And it's sure to be an interesting topic to automotive enthusiasts.

When two cars collide, each traveling 50 miles per hour, does the resulting force equal one car hitting an immovable object at 100 miles per hour?

It seems like such simple physics, no? But don't forget Newton's third law. To quote the great Wikipedia of knowledge, "Whenever a first body exerts a force F on a second body, the second body exerts a force −F on the first body. F and −F are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction." Or, more simply, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Considering S60R

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum this is my first post so be nice! lol On February 6 I was in a horrible car accident and my best friend actually passed and i suffered a compound fractured left leg a sub-arachnoid brain hemorrhage, and a stroke, i was also in a coma for 5 days. we were celebrating a girls 21st birthday on a party bus that took us around San Francisco eventually dropping us off at her house where he decided to drive even though he was drunk, and I being drunk too didn't think about the potential consequences and got in the car with him. He was taking me home on 101 south at about 2:30 in the morning when he crashed. we were hit by another car which threw both of us(who were not wearing seatbelts) out of the car. I idiotically had my window down and the car which hit us broke his window and we both went out. reason i tell the story isn't to look for pity, but to give understanding that my parents(i just turned 21) are very particular in which car to get me when im able to drive. i told them about the s60r after looking at it and knowing Volvos are safe cars, its also one of the better looking cars that my parents would go for. Its not super fast, and is super safe both issues they were concerned about. i was just seeing given those limitations if you all find this car as a good choice for me? i search online for them for sale but as I'm sure you all know these are rare cars so im waiting to find a decent one when i can get my license back, probably in a couple months as I have made a remarkable recovery from this accident. If there is anything to know about this car please tell me,service requirements, common repairs needed, also things to look for on used cars. Thanks a lot guys hopefully soon I'll be writing as a owner instead of just a prospective buyer! Remember never drive drunk and be safe!

I have a 05' S60R and i just had the fuel pump, filter, and fuel pressure sensor replaced by the local Volvo dealership. I've been noticing at higher rpm's and when i give it more gas pedal (to pass or merge, etc) its like im hitting a brick wall. It feels like im either not getting fuel or air. Also the car back-fires. Then i let off the gas a little and its fine. It may have been doing this once or twice prior to the replacement but now its doing it every time i even slightly get on it. No check engine light, no fuel smell coming from the exhaust, and no strange sounds coming from the engine. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what this may be or may have had this problem in the past? Thank-you

Newbie S60R

Hello!

Had my 2004 s60R for almost a month now, and I love it.

I'm in desperate need of a tune up. Brakes are squealing like a 5th grader, when I turn the wheel it squeaks, and the front lip is trashed like your mother. Turning radius is a bit disappointing, but all in all I love my car so much.

I'm a big time car newbie, so hopefully help me out. I'm planning to start out getting new mesh grille for the front.

Any tips for mods?

Loss Of Awd??

Yesterday on dry pavement in Advanced mode, I think I may have had tire spin under acceleration, and I felt some torque steer. I couldn't repeat it, but I feel like there is more torque steer than normal. Is there a way to tell if AWD is not behaving as it should or if there is no AWD??
